Frog

One of our cats found an interesting prey hiding in a box bush. She harrassed it long enough to chase it out of the bush and it turned out to be a frog. She caught it instantly, but quickly had to release it. Obviously it released some nasty chemicals, for the cat was foaming at the mouth within a minute. We put the dazed, but unharmed, frog in our brand new pond, where it seems to have made itsself at home.

Our rosy-red minnows have only been in our brand new pond for a few weeks, but there’s a male busily protecting a clutch of eggs underneath a tiny pond-lily leaf. They may hatch any time now. Exciting.

Bluetit in magnolia

This morning I spotted a bluetit seaching for insects in our magnolia stellata. Such a cheerful sight I wanted to post the picture, even if it isn’t that wonderful (small bird, big distance, average zoom lens).

New garden guests

A few weeks ago I spotted them in our neighbour’s garden and now they’ve discovered the bird food in our garden: long-tailed tits.

I just think they are adorable!
