Millingerwaard

beverspoor

Photo impression of our visit to the Millingerwaard on the river Waal. There are beavers, which we unfortunately didn’t see, but we spotted their activities.

Thaw

Finally! Hope it keeps thawing.

Getting organised

After a month of having our clothes in temporary cupboards and the hangers on a broomstick, we finally got our wardrobe. Nothing special, but it’s a relief to be able to organise our garments.

Happy New Year

fireworks_clip_art

Just a few more hours in 2009. Happy New Year to you, wherever you are. Thank you vor visiting and reading my weblog.

For me personally it promises to be an interesting year. We’ve just moved to a new house in a new contry and maybe I’ll also have a new job soon. Lots of changes and that’s always exciting.

Too late

… to wish everyone a merry christmas. The flu (or something much like it) got me. Feeling better now, but still rather weak. I’ll be taking it easy today.

Traffic jam

ooievaar

A few days ago I was caught in a traffic jam on my way to the office. While I was completely stuck at the exit from the motorway, I had the chance to observe a stork hunting in a meadow. Frustrating as it can be to be stuck in traffic, I tremendously enjoyed watching the stork catching prey and then continuing his hunt.

I’ve often noticed how you can see lots of wildlife when you’re travelling on the motorway or by train. Especially birds of prey, falcons and buzzards, can be seen here often. Buzzards come from Scandinavia to the Netherlands in winter. Herons, swans, geese and increasingly also stork are pretty common too. When driving, I normally do not have the leisure to study the wildlife, but fortunately I also frequently travel as a passenger.

It’s always nice when something as boring as traffic jam is made more pleasurable by observing wildlife exhibiting natural behaviour.
